Borussia Dortmund confirm Peter Bosz exit with Stöger to step in

Peter Bosz is no longer the first team coach with Borussia Dortmund with Saturday's loss to Werder leaving BVB winless in their last eight Bundesliga games.

The club held a press conference early Sunday morning confirming the departure of the Dutch coach and announced that Peter Stöger and his assistant Manfred Schmidt will look after first team affairs through to the end of June 2018.

Stöger was himself recently sacked from 1. FC Köln despite taking the side to their first European action for 25 years but failed to ignite the side in the domestic campaign this season.

Good start for Bosz

Bosz took over before the start of the season and got off to a great start as Dortmund led the league table by five points at the end of September.

But they have taken just three points from three draws in their eight league games since, dropping to seventh -- out of the European places for the first time this season -- following their latest defeat.

"The first half was like nothing I have seen since I arrived at Dortmund," Bosz said after the loss to Bremen. Obviously, the players have to do their work on the pitch, but I'm the one responsible and it was really bad today."
