Paris Saint-Germain are obsessed with signing Jan Oblak. The French club missed out on landing the Atlético Madrid keeper last summer but it seems they are preparing another attempt. The goalkeeper's position remains a problem area for PSG's technical department and an issue which Al Khelaifi wants to see resolved asap. As for the club's sporting project, that involves bringing in the best players for each position and that signing means a world class keeper. That Oblak would be Cup-tied in the Champions League doesn't present a problem - PSG want him on board in January.
PSG to offer Pastore or Trapp in Oblak deal
The strategy is to offer Javier Pastore now plus economic compensation in the summer. PSG are also open to offloading other players as makeweights - such as goalkeeper Kevin Trapp so that Atlético wouldn't have to rely solely on Miguel Ángel Moyà while they battle on three fronts: LaLiga, the Europa League and the Copa del Rey.
It's not the first time that Pastore has been linked to Atlético but the main hurdle in him joining Atleti would be his sizeable wage demands. Trapp is second choice to Alphonse Areola, and has seen his development halted so would be open to a move elsewhere. PSG will press Atlético over Oblak in next month's transfer window but the Rojiblancos will resist all attempts as they did last summer. However if PSG decide to meet Oblak's 100 milion euro buy-out, Atleti would move for their ex-keeper Thibaut Courtois as a replacement.
