Chelsea plan to make Hazard highest paid EPL player
The London SW6 based club are contemplating offering the Belgian a 50% salary increase (from a weekly 200,000 to 300,000 GBP).
Chelsea are set to respond to the declarations by Eden Hazard's father and according to an outlet in the UK are set to contest a potential move to Real Madrid by offering the Belgian international a 50% wage increase which will see the 26-year-old earn a net weekly salary of 300,000 GBP moving the player ahead of the Premier League's current top earner Paul Pogba who is on a weekly salary of 290,000 GBP.
The strategy is a move from Roman Abramovich in a bid to ensure the player stays at Stamford Bridge and complete his current deal which would see him remain with "The Blues" through to 2020. Thierry Hazard, the player's father speaking to Belgian newspaper Le Soir stated that : "Eden has rejected a contract extension as he is interested in waiting for Real Madrid".
Madrid interest
Hazard has been linked with a move to the Bernabeu for some time now but Florentino Perez would not be prepared to break the club's payment policy and offer the Belgian the annual 20 million euro that Chelsea's are preparing. At present the highest earners at Real Madrid are Cristiano on €23M; Gareth Bale and Sergio Ramos on approx. 12 million.
Conte confídent
Current Chelsea head coach, Antonio Conte deems that his player is committed to the cause with the club stating after the recent stoke game: "If you're at a major club and believe in it's direction, then the coherent thing to do is stay".
