Football Malaysia signs partnership with LaLiga
Spanish sides are expected to head to Malaysia for pre-season after LaLiga put pen to paper on a three-year working partnership.
Football Malaysia Limited Liability Partnership (FMLLP) - the company that operates and runs Malaysia’s main football entities - signed on Friday a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with LaLiga in an effort to improve the quality of football in the Southeast Asia country.
LaLiga will oversee a three-year working partnership to support the long-term development of the FMLLP by sharing its experience in the fields of finance, technology and good governance.
The three-year deal was signed by FMLLP Chairman Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, who is also the president of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), and Oscar Mayo Pardo, LaLiga’s International Development Director.
Long-term development
The agreement will establish a programme of financial control in order to clean up the clubs’ finances and to guarantee economic transparency within Malaysian football.
LaLiga will advise the FMLLP on the implementation of tools developed in Spain in order to optimize football competitions, such as La Liga Manager, Referee Selector and Kit Selector.
“We are delighted to be working with the FMLLP as they look to continue the development of football in Malaysia. LaLiga's experience in the football industry will be crucial in the FMLLP's development plan across the next 50 years,” the president of La Liga Javier Tebas stated.

Tebas’ counterpart, Tunku Ismail, said he is confident the partnership will help Malaysian football improve.
'This is a long-term football development plan and I am confident this partnership will help our football success in the future,' FMLLP’s Chairman told reporters.
'Both sides will share information and experience as well as organising seminars on professional leagues and club management, especially in the field of marketing is also an agenda in this agreement.'
Through the agreement, it is expected for LaLiga teams to play pre-season matches against Malaysian teams.
