Courtois: PSG reportedly hold talks with Chelsea goalkeeper

Belgian media outlet RTBF claims that Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois met representatives of Paris Saint-Germain on Monday.

Thibaut Courtois has held talks with Paris Saint-Germain officials, according to a report in the Belgian media. With the Ligue 1 giants thought to be out to strengthen in goal, the Chelsea custodian is among the chief candidates being tipped for the Parc des Princes.

Courtois met PSG chiefs - but has doubts about Ligue 1 club...

RTBF says that Courtois and his father, Thierry, met with PSG representatives at a London hotel on Monday - but adds that the Belgium international expressed significant doubts about the club. "During the conversations, Thibaut was insistent about the lack of a winning culture at PSG," the media outlet quoted sources as saying. "The Parisians haven't had success in the biggest competitions. Their DNA isn't like that of the other major European clubs, and that frightens him. Thibaut wants guarantees that the club has that kind of ambition."

Courtois also heavily linked with Real Madrid

PSG's goalkeeping options are seen as the chief weakness in Unai Emery's squad, with Courtois viewed as a player who would offer the solidity between the sticks that current number one Alphonse Areola has been unable to provide. However, Paris is not the 25-year-old's only potential destination, with Real Madrid also believed to be keen. The player has spoken openly of the difficulties of being separated from his two children, who now live in Madrid with his former partner, while RTBF says discussions have taken place between Courtois and Los Blancos over the winter.

And talk of a summer move was further fuelled recently when Courtois publicly questioned his Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte, over the Italian's decision to take off Eden Hazard with the scores still level in the Blues' 2-1 Premier League defeat to Manchester United on Sunday - 24 hours before his alleged meeting with PSG. "I have no explanation for the substitution," Courtois told Play Sports. "I did not expect it, but it’s the manager’s choice. He’ll explain it. I can’t look into his head."
