VILLARREAL - ATLÉTICO MADRID

"It was not a penalty for Atlético's Griezmann" - Iturralde in no doubt

"It was not a penalty for Atlético's Griezmann" - Iturralde in no doubt

With 18 minutes gone in the game at the Estadio de la Cerámica, Atlético Madrid were awarded a penalty for a foul by Jaume Costa on Antoine Griezmann. After the Villarreal players had finished their protests to referee Fernández Borbalán and his assistant, the Frenchman calmly slotted the spot kick home to give his side a 0-1 lead.

Griezmann had done well to position himself in front of the defender in the penalty area but as the ball was coming across for him to score, he felt the presence of Costa and threw himself to the ground, says Iturralde: "It was not a penalty for Griezmann, there was nothing in it."
