ATLÉTICO MADRID

Atlético eyeing Angers teenager Aït Nouri as Filipe replacement

Filipe Luis' recent injury has forced Atlético Madrid to do a spot of forward thinking and reconsider the left-back position with an eye on the future. Filipe Luis will be out of action for the next two months after undergoing surgery on a fractured shin bone - the latest of five injuries he has suffered this season and for now, Lucas Hernández has been brought in as cover. But the club is looking further ahead and hoping to find a long-term solution, bearing in mind that Filipe will turn 33 in August.

Several clubs eyeing Angers promise

According to French newspaper Courrier de L'Ouest, Atleti have their sights set on teenage full-back Rayan Aït Nouri. The 16-year-old defender, who is of Algerian origin, is considered one of the great promises of Angers youth academy. Aït Nouri, who currently plays for the reserves, recently went professional with Angers and has already attracted interest from several clubs, such as Manchester City, Monaco and particularly Liverpool, who were close to whisking him away to Anfield last summer.

Under his present contractual arrangement with Angers, Aït Nouri is valued at 10 million euros. He is a youth international at Under-17 level with France and tipped to be one of the full-backs for the future with Les Bleus for his attacking skills and rapid progression.
