Messi doesn't train at Valdebebas three days out from Spain game
The captain of the Argentina national team stayed in the team hotel to do work on his abductor soreness while the rest of the squad trained at Valdebebas in Madrid.
The captain of Argentina, Lionel Messi, stayed in the Eurostars Tower Hotel in Madrid while the rest of Jorge Sampaoli's squad trained at on the grass at Real Madrid's Valdebebas on Saturday night. He did work on his muscular fatigue instead, according to the Albiceleste Twitter account. The Barcelona star did not play against Italy and with three days to go before Argentina play Spain at the Wanda on Tuesday night, he still has not trained. In the Argentina squad, however, they are optomistic that he will make it in time for that game against their fellow World Cup favourites.
The player himself mentioned an injury that had been there prior to landing in Manchester for the Italy game. "I came here with a niggle, I trained normally. On the last day, I didn't feel the injury, but it's still there. We decided that it's better to treat it with everything that's coming up," he said to TyC Sports.
"I am optimistic for Tuesday, and I really want to play," he admitted as he eyes the clash between two of Russia 2018's best sides.
