Umtiti's future at Barcelona in doubt
According to Sport, the Barcelona defender appears to have had his head turned by offers, with Manchester United and Manchester City interested.
In the middle of a fantastic season for Barcelona, with LaLiga title pretty much already in the bag and the club aiming to win the triple, a problem has arisen that nobody was expecting: Umtiti. But not because of his performances, or injury, but because the player isn't willing to renew his contract unless there is a major improvement in terms, and is seriously considering moving on.
Umtiti wants to be on the same salary scale as Iniesta
According to Barcelona based newspaper Sport, Umtiti feels he has done more than enough to move onto the second rung of the Barcelona salary scale, alongside Suárez and Iniesta. The club however feel his demands are simply unacceptable.
Umtiti buy-out clause
The player is under contract until 2021, but has a low buy-out clause (in the current market) of just 60 million euros. And with his stellar performances, a number of teams are taking a major interest, with both Manchester United and Manchester City at the head of the queue. Sport in fact say that Mourinho's club are ready to pay the buy-out and have an offer of nine million euros a season ready for him.
