Champions League semi-finals: Real Madrid to face Bayern
The two old foes will go toe-to-toe again for a place in the Champions League final in one of Europe's classic historical match-ups.
Bayern Munich-Real Madrid, Liverpool-Roma in semi-finals
There is little doubt that Madrid and Bayern would have preferred to avoid each other in the semi-finals, with Liverpool and Roma going head to head in the other tie.
Bayern and Madrid have met three times in the knock-out stages in recent years. in 2013-14 Carlo Ancelotti masterminded a 5-0 aggregate victory over the side he would go on to manage shortly afterwards in the semi-finals, avenging Bayern's success two seasons earlier when the Bavarians won on penalties in the Bernabéu to reach the final after a 3-3 aggregate draw.
Overall, Bayern lead the head-to-head between the side with 11 victories to Madrid's 9, and two draws.
Ties to be played on 24-25 April and 1-2 May
Bayern and Liverpool will be at home in the opening legs, which will be played on either April 24 or 25 April, with the returns scheduled for 1-2 May.
