The future of Fernando Torres appears likely to be on the other side of the Atlantic. The Atlético Madrid striker has announced that he will leave the club at the end of this season, acknowledging that he must 'sacrifice my dreams for the good of Atleti.'

El Niño has also made it clear that he will continue playing after leaving his boyhood club. Torres has confirmed that he has received offers, and according to COPE, his immediate future could be with Chicago Fire, the MLS side managed by his former team-mate Veljko Paunovic.

The same source revealed that representatives from Chicago are in Madrid to complete the signing.

Torres could join Villa in MLS

Some MLS clubs have switched their attention towards signing prospects from South America, yet the allure of the veteran European remains strong. David Villa - Torres' former partner in crime for Spain - is the captain of New York City, and moved to the United States after winning the league with Atlético.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is currently with LA Galaxy, while Thierry Henry, Frank Lampard, and Steven Gerrard have all played MLS football in recent years.
