Messi has Golden Shoe all wrapped up

Salah only managed one goal against Brighton, meaning the Barcelona striker, despite not playing against Levante is almost certainly assured his fifth trophy.

Barcelona striker Lionel Messi is almost certain to win this year's Golden Shoe* award for the leading goalscorer in league matches from the top division of every European national league. With 34 goals and with one match remaining against Real Sociedad, Messi looks set to take the award from Salah, who has been leading the race for months. The Liverpool striker could only manage one goal against Brighton in the final match of the Premier League. Salah did set a new record though, becoming the first player to score 32 goals in a 38 game English top flight season.

Messi two goals in front of Salah

Messi has 68 points (34 goals, with goals in the major leagues worth two points) while Sala is on 64 (32 goals). Immobile, who is five behind Messi, is currently injured and looks to be struggling to be fit for the last game in Serie A.

Barring something completely unexpected Messi will become the first footballer to win five Golden Shoes, to go with his five Ballons d'Or. He won it in 09-10, 11-12, 12-13 and 16-17.
