Fabián: "You have doubts because you know how Betis are"
The Real Betis midfielder was speaking about the history of the club when they combined European football and LaLiga and he says he has doubts.
Quique Setien, Real Betis' manager, does not know what will happen with his current squad. he doesn't know what will happen with two of his main contributors this season either. "Adán has a contract in place. And any player with a contract, we count on him. I count on him. If a team comes or he says he wants to go...But if they come for Fabián and pay the clause...Pau Lopez and Adán as my goalkeepers? It's better to have more than two keepers," he said on Cope recently with the central midfielder in question linked with a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona.
Fabián, himself avoided speaking about his future on Thursday too when he was asked in the press conference for an event with some of the other youth products who emerged under Setien this season. "I want to finish the season well and focus on the club, on Betis, the club I have a contract with. The future? I can't talk, I don't look further than Leganés and after rest and disconnect on vacation."
He also commented on Real Betis making a mess of the same season they got to Europe. In 2013-14, they made it to the Euopa League last 16 and ended up with just 25 points and were relegated to the Segunda. "I'll be sincere. There are things I don't know and they concern me. I want to do a good job, I want to continue in this project. I worry about the history of this club, which had a poor performance in LaLiga the last time it got to Europe. I still don't know if the club is ready to be in three competitions, above all how demanding it is. I have always been in favour of growing little by little. I think that with four games, you can't start talking about the Champions but neither that it will be a disaster."
"We are going to win a lot of things with respect to last year because a lot of players have automated what we are asking for. We will see how we are going to respond. But you have doubts, because you know how this club is. It's true that you have to think about the long term a little but but we will be taking those decisions," he said.
