Frank Lampard named as new Derby County manager
The Championship club have officially announced the appointment of the former England midfielder on a three-year-deal.
Frank Lampard has been officially installed as the new manager of Championship club Derby County, signing a three-year contract at Pride Park.
The former Chelsea and England midfielder retired as a player at New York City after an illustrious Premier League career in which he became the Stamford Bridge club’s record scorer while winning three league titles, four FA Cups and the Champions League.Since then, Lampard has been gaining his Uefa coaching badges and working as a pundit.
Derby finished sixth in English football’s second tier in 2017-18 and subsequently lost to Fulham in the play-off semi-finals. Lampard will be tasked with improving on that performance under Gary Rowett, who has taken over at Stoke City following the Potters’ relegation from the top flight last season.
