Real Madrid are keen to present their new coach Julen Lopetegui as soon as possible. Lopetegui was announced as the replacement for Zidane on Tuesday, with the idea being that he would take over at the Bernabéu after his job as Spain coach was finished at the World Cup. However, in a stunning move today, Wednesday, the head of the Spanish FA sacked Lopetegui for the way he'd handled his signing at Real Madrid, meaning the coach is heading back to Spain this evening and expected to land in the Spanish capital around 2am on Thursday.

Real Madrid are keen to seize the opportunity and present Lopetegui on Thursday evening as their new coach. He will be signing a three-year deal at the Bernabéu. The details of his presentation are still to be worked out, but some sources say it could take place around 18:30 CEST on Thursday, during the opening match of the World Cup between Russia and Saudi Arabia.

Real Madrid aware Lopetegui highly distressed

Despite Real Madrid's desire to present their new coach as soon as possible, some club sources have said that the top brass are aware Lopetegui is extremely distressed at his sacking and they are willing to accommodate his wishes over the presentation.
