Swansea City reject Fulham bid for Ghanaian striker Jordan Ayew

Swansea City have rejected an £8million bid for Ghanaian striker Jordan Ayew from the newly-promoted side Fulham.

The Welsh side turned down Fulham’s approach having previously rejected offers from West Ham United for goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski and defender Alfie Mawson.

According to a report by WalesOnline, it is understood Swansea feel the Ghanaian should command a fee nearer to the £15million mark after being one of a minority of players to emerge with genuine credit from the club’s last season.

He had previously been linked with a £14million move to Liverpool or Celtic this summer.

Ayew, 26, has scored 11 goals in 58 appearances for the Welsh side since joining from Aton Villa in January 2017.

Swansea set to offload bigger names

Following their relegation from the English Premier League, Swansea are keen to get with overhauling their squad following the appointment of the former full back Graham Potter as manager.

The team is looking to start the offload of some of the bigger names who have expressed their desire to leave the club, however, this will not happen if the offer is not the right one.

‘We need to assess, any player who leaves has to go on right terms for the club but we don’t want players who don’t want to be here,’ Potter said at his unveiling on Tuesday.

‘We have to make balanced decisions, that process has started already, but we want players proud to represent Swansea.

‘There will be some money to spend, there are no details today but we need to add to the group and there will be some we move out to create space.’
