The Ghanaian striker will join the Turkish giants on a season-long loan.

Update:
Swansea’s Andre Ayew joins Fenerbahce on loan

Ghanaian striker Andre Ayew has joined Fenerbahce on a season-long loan from Swansea City, the Turkish giants announced on Wednesday.

Fenerbahce have the option of signing the Ghana international on a permanent deal after the loan.

The 28-year-old rejoined Swansea in January after two seasons at West Ham, but was unable to help his team avoid relegation to the Championship, as he failed to score on his return to Wales.

Ayew to sign with Fenerbahce after medical

The striker, son of the three-time African Footballer of the Year Abedi Pele, left Swansea’s pre-season tour in Germany and Austria to complete a medical in Istanbul.

‘Ayew will come to Istanbul tomorrow (26 July) and after a medical examination he will sign the official contract,’ a statement by the Turkish club reads.

The Ghanaian, one of Swansea’s highest earners, was expected to leave the Welsh club following their relegation from the Premier League.

‘I understand the circumstances of the move - it's part of the restructure of us going forward,' Swansea manager Graham Potter said in a statement on the club’s official website.

‘From my perspective he has been brilliant. He has applied himself in training, supported what we are trying to do and been very professional.

‘He has been a joy to work with and we wish him the best.’

Ayew’s younger brother, Jordan, is also expected to leave the Swans before the transfer window closes. Reports in Ghana have linked him with a move to Leicester.
