Real Madrid train without their 13 internationals
With the Uefa Nations League and other international friendlies taking place, Julen Lopetegui is down to the first team bare bones in Madrid.
Real Madrid ended their second training session of the week on Tuesday, one that was notable for the absence of a number of their star names.
Fifa virus looms over Lopetegui
The start of Uefa's new Nations League competition gets underway on Thursday and with that, along with other international fixtures lined up by Fifa, 13 players from the Real Madrid squad are away from Valdebebas. Sergio Ramos, Nacho, Dani Carvajal, Isco, Marco Asensio, Dani Ceballos, Raphael Varane, Thibaut Courtois, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Gareth Bale will all be on duty for their European sides, while Casemiro and Federico Valverde are involved for their nations' respective friendlies.
For those remaining and fit, they were joined for training by Castillo players Feuillassier, López, Jaume, De la Fuente, Seoane and Cristo. The session had a focus on ball work: passing, crossing and shooting, and ended with small games in tight spaces, and a possession and pressing exercise.
Following the international break, on September 9, Real Madrid will travel to Bilbao to face Athletic Club.
