Luis Rubiales and Gianni Infantino will meet in Spain on Wednesday
The Spanish Prime Minister and both Luis Rubiales and Gianni Infantino will meet in Madrid on Wednesday to discuss Tebas' US plan and hosting Nations League Final Four.
The Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, along with the presidents of both FIFA and Spain's football federation, Gianni Infantino and Luis Rubiales, will meet on Wednesday at Moncloa Palace. The idea is to strengthen ties between parties and to and analyse and discuss all aspects of Spanish football.
The idea was proposed at the final of the Women's under-20 World Cup, in which Spain lost to Japan. Infantino brought up the idea to Rubiales. Obviously, Javier Tebas' idea to play a LaLiga game in the U.S (Barcelona vs Girona has been proposed by the league but nothing has been confirmed) along with the response from the footballer's union, AFE, will be discussed, will be on the table. Rubiales called Tebas 'rude' in an interview recently and is completely against the handling of the situation.
Another topic will be on the table too. There is interest from Spain to host the Nations League Final Four in June and a decision is yet to be made. The tournament is run by UEFA but Infantino has a very strong relationship with its president Aleksander Ceferin. The FIFA president's opinion carries a lot of weight and could be important when it comes time to making the decision on where it is played.
