Pepe named "Defender of the Year" in Turkish league
The Portuguese defender picked up the award at the Turkish FA gala event in Istanbul just one year on from his move to Besiktas from Real Madrid.

Pepe left Real Madrid in the summer of 2017 moving to Istanbul based Besiktas. After just one season in the SuperLig the Portuguese defender has established himself as one of the best in Turkey with testament to this being his award as "Best SuperLig Defender for the 2017/18 campaign.
The event staged in Istanbul was broadcast live on BeIN Sports Turkey and also saw the likes of Uruguayan stopper Fernando Muslera named as goalkeeper of the season). The best midfielder went to Emre Belözoğlu, with Bafatimbi Gomis named as best player for the campaign.
Galatasaray boss Fatih Terim was named manager of the season with Besiktas player Ricardo Quaresma picking up the goal of the season award for his effort against Fenerbahce.
