Manchester United are planning to hike their ticket prices for the visit of Valencia on October 21 in response to the Liga club’s decision to do likewise when the Red Devils visit Mestalla.

The Old Trafford board have raised prices in the away stand for the Champions League game from 61 euros to 88 euros while maintaining the lower price for the remainder of seats available to home fans. The 27-euro difference will be pooled to provide a fund to subsidise fans travelling to Spain.

Valencia set prices for the return game on December 12 at between 88 euros and 230 euros for visiting Manchester United fans.

Valencia only side with Europe included in season ticket

The Premier League club had attempted to reach an agreement with Valencia, Juventus and Young Boys over ticket prices but the Liga side said it would be impossible as they are the only club in the group who have Champions League games included in their season-ticket price. Fans of the other three clubs are obliged to pay extra to attend European games.

That means that Valencia will only make 5,000 tickets available for the Manchester United game with tickets for home fans working out at 85 euros at the cheapest for home fans on the evening, which the club argued would not be a popular decision if the price for away fans was set at 61 euros.
