Real Madrid: Carvajal misses training, Odriozola set for debut
The Basque right-back is expected to finally make his competitive bow for Real Madrid as Los Blancos take on Espanyol in LaLiga on Saturday.
Real Madrid have trained for the final time ahead of Saturday's LaLiga clash with Espanyol (20:45 CEST), with Dani Carvajal the only absentee from the session. The right-back remained in the gym at Los Blancos' Valdebebas training ground, and is expected to sit out this weekend's fixture at the Bernabéu.
Debutant Odriozola set to deputise for Carvajal
Carvajal's likely absence against Espanyol leaves Álvaro Odriozola in contention to make his competitive debut for the club. Since being ruled out of the Uefa Super Cup in mid-August after suffering a groin strain at the end of Real's pre-season US tour, the summer signing had not featured in any of Lopetegui's squad lists until last Saturday's LaLiga trip to San Mamés to face Athletic Bilbao.
Lopetegui poised to make changes
With the exception of Carvajal, Lopetegui is set to have a full complement of players to choose from for the visit of Los Pericos, with the Real coach in line to rotate his side with one eye on next week's LaLiga fixtures against Sevilla (Wednesday, 22:00) and city rivals Atlético Madrid (Saturday, 20:45).
