Patrick Mahomes is running away with the NFL record book.

The Kansas City Chiefs' second-year quarterback had another historic outing Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers as he broke the league record for touchdown passes in the first three games of a season.

Mahomes tossed his 13th score of the season in the second quarter, eclipsing Peyton Manning's mark of 12 for the most passing touchdowns through Week 3 in NFL history.

The 23-year-old threw four touchdown passes in a season-opening win over the Los Angeles Chargers before tying a Chiefs record with six passing touchdowns in the team's Week 2 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Chiefs beat the Niners 38-27.
