Mohamed Salah avoids charges over using mobile while driving

After footage of Liverpool's Egyptian star apparently using his mobile phone while driving emerged, police have found that there is not enough evidence to prosecute.

In August, Liverpool contacted police about the incident that had come to light where their star Mohamed Salah had been caught on camera appearing to use a mobile phone while driving. The local authorities came out on Thursday to state that charges would not be brought against the Egyptian as there was "insufficient evidence".

No action taken against Salah

“We can confirm a 26-year-old man was spoken to following an incident on Arkles Lane in Liverpool on Sunday 12 August," said Merseyside police.

“Inquiries have taken place and there is insufficient evidence to support a prosecution and as such no further action will be taken.

“The man has been spoken to by officers and given advice and guidance around mobile phone use in a vehicle.”

The former Chelsea and Roma winger lit up the Premier League last season (which earned him a place in the Ballon d'Or shortlist) and is hoping to find similar levels after a slow start to the current campaign despite Liverpool sitting joint-top mid-October.
