Mendes received €9M for the transfer of Mbappé
According to Football Leaks, Monaco used the agent as they forced Real Madrid’s hand over the price of the striker. They then demanded the same price from PSG.
Monaco used the services of football agent Jorge Mendes as they negotiated with Real Madrid over the transfer of Kylian Mbappé, with the Spanish giants eventually accepting a price of 180 million euros for the services of the young striker, which with taxes took the total cost to 214 million.
Despite the deal with Real Madrid, the player finally decided to move to PSG, but Monaco were able to demand the same quantity Mendes had negotiated for them with Madrid. And despite not being involved in the deal between the PSG and Monaco, Mendes still picked up his remuneration of nine million euros, given he’d effectively helped set the price for the deal. According to Football Leaks much of the work he’d done was driving speculation throughout the summer over the move to Real Madrid, which had led to a bidding war for the youngster.
Among the other revelations from Football Leaks are the demands Mbappé made when negotiating with PSG, such as a jump in salary to be the best paid in the squad if he won the Ballon d’Or (ahead of the 30 million euros a season deal with Neymar) and 50 hours of private jet use a year. PSG bargained him down to a butler, a chauffeur and a bodyguard.
