Courtois chooses the best three keepers in the world
Real Madrid and Belgian keeper has chosen the three best keepers in the world, and hasn't included himself.
Following his clean sheet for Real Madrid against Roma in the Champions League on Tuesday night, Thibaut Courtois was asked about the best keepers in the world. And the Belgian shot stopper humbly did not include himself on the list, despite being chosen as FIFA’s goalkeeper of the year in September at The Best awards.
"Ter Stegen, Alisson and Oblak", responded Courtois. "They are all great goalkeepers, but I do not know who the best is. I could not go for one, that depends on the defence and also on the whole team, I think I have already shown that I am at a high level.”
Courtois also received the Golden Glove at the World Cup in Russia following his performance with Belgium, who made it to the semi-finals.
In the summer, he signed for Real Madrid, where there has been an ongoing debate surrounding him and Costa Rican keeper Keylor Navas, who are both vying for the number one jersey.
Axed Madrid coach Lopetegui had implemented a rotational system – where Courtois played LaLiga games and Navas Champions League fixtures – but since Santiago Solari took charge at the end of October, he has favoured the Belgian for both competitions.
