Vietnam beat Malaysia to claim 2018 AFF Suzuki Cup
The Golden Dragons secured a 1-0 home victory over the Harimau Malaya.

Vietnam were crowned the 2018 Asean Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup winners after beating Malaysia 1-0 in the second leg of the final in Hanoi.

An early strike by Nguyen Anh Duc proved decisive after the Golden Dragons had allowed a two-goal lead slip in a 2-2 draw in the first leg in Kuala Lumpur last Tuesday.

The home side had the benefit of two away goals; however Anh Duc’s left-footed volley turned out to be more than enough.

Vietnam’s goalkeeper Dang Van Lam made some fine saves to preserve the advantage as they won 3-2 on the aggregate and claimed the Asean regional title for the first time since 2008.
Ten players were booked in Saturday’s encounter, which culminated with the dismissal of Malaysia’s Shahrul Saad in stoppage time when he received his second yellow card after committing a foul on the halfway line to stop a Vietnamese counterattack.
