Salgado: "Courtois doesn't know Real Madrid; we don't need to respond to anybody"

The former Real Madrid and Spain defender has reflected on the current situation at the Bernabéu in an interview on Spanish radio.

El exjugador del Real Madrid. Míchel Salgado.

Ex-Real Madrid defender Michel Salgado gave an interview to Spanish radio channel Cadena Cope this Tuesday, in which he spoke about the current situation at the Bernabéu, the Isco case, and Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure. Salgado also stated that he believed it wasn’t necessary for Thibaut Courtois to respond to Atlético coach Diego Simeone’s latest criticisms of Madrid and confessed that he would one day like to take the coach’s seat at the Bernabéu.

Salgado quotes

Courtois’ response to Simeone: “I don’t think he (Courtois) knows Real Madrid. We don’t need to respond to anybody.”

Solari must speak with Isco: “Solari will have to meet with Isco and sort out this issue. However it is, they have to fix it."

Messi isn’t the best player in history: “Hey! Stop, stop… there we have Maradona or my little fatty (Ronaldo Nazario).”

Lopetegui: “At Madrid there is no time and Lopetegui found himself in a very difficult situation to handle in a very short time.”

Only winning matters: “You can’t expect Madrid to give you anything. It’s the most demanding team in the world and only winning matters.”

Madrid post-Cristiano Ronaldo: “Madrid without Cristiano is in transition. He cannot be replaced by one person; the change has to be in the system… It was underestimated how much he set the tone and there isn’t a magician who can change seven years in half a month."

Coaching job: “Coaching Madrid is a dream because it is my home. I have won titles there… it has made me who I am as a person. I would love to return; but it would be very costly. Madrid wears you down; but it also nourishes you and makes you stronger.”
