In Italy they dream of reigniting the Cristiano-Messi fire in their own domestic league is being pondered. Juventus' capture of the Portuguese star was phase one, and now Inter Milan have been touted as a potential home for the mercurial Argentine.

Messi to join Ronaldo?

The transfer away from Barcelona is a complicated one, and most commentators don't believe it is likely, although many said the same about Madrid letting go of their star number seven. And one former Inter player who now struts his stuff for Chinese side Jiangsu Suning (who share owners with the Nerazzurri) says that the Italian outfit have enough financial muscle to make the dream a reality

Speaking with Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian-Brazilian player Éder stated:

“I have seen Suning’s sense of empire from within. They have everything needed to lift Inter to the heights of that empire.

“Inter Milan are now seen as a family for Suning, and family means everything to them. When they bought Inter, they claimed certain things, and now they are doing exactly what they said they would. They spoke about growth, not promising a Serie A title, the Champions League or Messi right away. Suning can make any Inter dream come true, and that includes signing Messi if they wanted to."

Éder went on to add that he believes the tax situation in Spain played a part in the decision by Cristiano to move to Italy, and could influence others.
