Bookmakers always win goes the old saying and ahead of the major football tournaments that will be resolved in 2018, a survey comparing the odds from some of Europe's leading bookmakers: Bet365, Betfair, William Hill, 888 and Codere sees the following teams emerge as favourites to secure football's biggest prizes in the forthcoming year.

There is little money to be made in selecting the winner in the domestic French and Italian leagues with both PSG and Juventus comfortably ahead in their respective leagues.

The Spanish, English and German leagues are harder to call but the favourite for the bookmakers at present are the current leaders: FC Barcelona in LaLiga, Liverpool in the Premier League and Dortmund in the Bundesliga. Betting on the Reds to win their first league title in the Premier League era would see a return of 1.74 for every euro placed.
