All clubs are looking to sign players who have reached the end of their contracts in order to strengthen their squads at minimal cost. This summer, several former LaLiga players are currently free agents and could join new clubs on free transfers.

The most prominent name is Dani Carvajal. After leaving Real Madrid, the six-time UEFA Champions League winner has received major offers from Saudi Arabia, Qatar and MLS, but he prefers to consider European options first. Inter Milan are, for now, the club most willing to sign the right-back. His former teammate David Alaba, who also said goodbye at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium on the same day, is close to joining rivals AC Milan, although Inter Miami CF are also interested.

Another heavyweight name is Dani Parejo. The former Villarreal CF midfielder bid farewell at Estadio de la Cerámica on the final matchday but has said he wants to continue playing at the age of 37. In recent days he has been linked with Racing Santander, who are seeking experience as they fight to stay in the top flight.

Like him, his former teammate Thomas Partey also saw his contract expire this summer, although his spell at the Yellow Submarine was far less influential.

Other free agents include two FIFA World Cup winners with Spain: Sergio Ramos and Pedro Rodríguez. Ramos has not announced his retirement and, despite being linked with efforts to buy Sevilla FC, remains open to offers to continue competing. Pedro, who left Lazio at the end of his contract, could attract interest from LaLiga clubs, although a return home to CD Tenerife currently appears more likely.

The player with the most offers on the table is Pablo Martínez. He began the season at Levante UD amid doubts, then grew into a leadership role and became one of the key figures in keeping the Granota in LaLiga. Deportivo Alavés, Sevilla FC and RC Celta de Vigo are all monitoring him, with the latter two considered the most interested.

At Real Betis, several names are being considered because of either their Verdiblanco past or a possible future move. Two former players who worked under Manuel Pellegrini — Nabil Fekir and William Carvalho — are free agents, although recent reports have linked both more closely with Saudi Arabia. Also available are Cédric Bakambu and Chimy Ávila, who left after failing to secure places in Pellegrini’s plans. Their futures appear more likely to lie in South America, although Getafe CF have monitored Ávila for some time.

The most notable name, however, is Dani Ceballos. The transfer saga that resurfaces every summer could finally end after he terminated his contract with Real Madrid. Dutch media report that Míchel is also keen to take him to Ajax. In recent hours, the midfielder has again endeared himself to Betis supporters by praising the high level of young talent José Antonio Morante.

Getafe may end up replacing one departing player with another. After Diego Rico left at the end of his contract, the Madrid club are trying to sign Mumin, who barely played for Rayo Vallecano after suffering a serious ligament injury. For the left-back position, both Deportivo Alavés and RCD Espanyol are reportedly interested in him.

Meanwhile, Deportivo de La Coruña have recently shown interest in two free agents: Joselu and Adama Traoré. Joselu could return to the Galician club after scoring 10 goals in Qatar last season, while Adama featured in the Premier League for both Fulham FC and West Ham United FC, the latter after arriving on loan during the winter window.
