Mourinho on Madrid: "If they want you back, it's because you did something well"

Mourinho plays down speculation that he will return to manager Real Madrid and says he is happy where he is at the moment after losing Manchester United job.

Update:
Mourinho on Madrid: "If they want you back, it's because you did something well"

Jose Mourinho was interviewed by Correio da Manha (CMTV) and responded to reports that he might be set to return to the Santiago Bernabéu at the end of the season. The Portuguese manager says he would prefer not to feed the rumours and says that these are just "things they say" regarding the speculation.

"When a manager or a player returns, it's because they did something positive," he says. "I felt that when I arrived at Chelsea. When a professional returns or is offered a return to a club, it's a tremendous honour. It's not a blind bet, the club are trying to bring in a player of manager that they already know, who was already there and if they offer it is because they know the value of this person."

Mourinho rules out Benfica job

He also ruled out the possibility of managing Benfica because he has "the minimum intention of working in Portugal."

"I can say that today I have no intention of working in Portugal," he said. "I am fine as I am and today, Benfica is not an option."

The rumours had started when Benfica president, Luis Filips Vieira, praised the coach and said if he wanted to come and coach the team, he could whenever he wanted and that "money is not a problem."
