Dalmat: "Ronaldo had a phobia about weighing himself"

RMC Sport interviewed former Inter Milan player Stephane Dalmat who, during his career was a team mate of the one of the best strikers in the history of the game, Ronaldo Nazário. When asked about playing alongside the Brazilian ace, he revealed an anecdote about the tension of the weekly weighing sessions, one of the demands coach Héctor Cúper set his players.

Getting up on the scales

"Under Cúper, we had to weigh ourselves every Tuesday morning and Ronaldo never wanted to get up onto the scales. It was a psychological thing for him, he didn't want to see his weight because it was something that niggled him. There was a lot of tense moments and sometimes it would all end badly. Cúper was very strict about certain things but Ronaldo didn't want to know how many kilos he weighed - he never did".

Dalmat also chatted about life after football: "After I hanged my boots up, I entered into a depression. I had a personal problem and I felt cut off from everything because I had lived in a bubble. I haven't done anything in the last six years. But now I am starting to enjoy myself again, but at some point I'm going to have to find a job and something that makes me want to get up in the morning".
