Mbappé's anxiety to win titles pulling him closer to Real Madrid
His words after the Guingamp win has left PSG fans with some nerves and everyone in his inner circle knows that his ambition means he wants to win trophies now.
In France, they tend to say that your "an appetiser makes you hungry" and Kylian Mbappé is starving after recent success. Those who know the French attacker are not surprised by his comments after Paris Saint Germain's game against Guingamp when he said he doesn't know what the future holds.
It has given fans of PSG some pangs of anxiety and while he feels connected with the city, the fans and the club and feels valued by them, those inside his inner circle are aware that his ambition in insatiable.
The victory at the World Cup that saw him crowned as a world champion has given him the impetus to go and win more trophies and while he is only just turned 20 years of age, he doesn't want to wait to long before he wins the Champions League. He wants it all and he wants it now. So much so that despite winning the Raymond Kopa trophy in December, he was disappointed that he didn't win the Ballon d'Or and was even more disappointed that he didn't finish as the top rated French player.
This ambition speaks well for his future and his daily working habits. And while he is willing to work, he knows he needs to put himself in a position to win.
And so, PSG's continuation in the Champions League is vital in the coming weeks. They play Manchester United's renewed forces under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on the 12th of February at Old Trafford and in the return leg on March 6th.
Everybody knows what Zinedine Zidane, his compatriot, did in 2001 when he wanted to win the only trophy he lacked: the Champions League. He left Juventus for Real Madrid and in his first season there, he won it. One thing is for sure. Mbappé will not wait, as Zizou did, until he is 28.
