Neymar: PSG or Rio Carnival?

While PSG reportedly expect him to be in the stands for their clash with Manchester United on March 6, Neymar has announced that he has reserved a box to watch the Rio Carnival parade on the same day.

Neymar: PSG or Rio Carnival?

While media reports in Brazil have announced that Neymar will attend Carnival celebrations in Rio, PSG expects their striker to return to Paris early next week to continue his recovery from a foot injury.

The Brazilian star has been side-lined since breaking a metatarsal bone in his right foot in late January in a French Cup game against Strasbourg, and has spent the last week recovering from the injury in Brazil.

The 27-year-old had spoken about his attendance at the Carnival celebrations, one of the biggest cultural events in Brazil, announcing through his social media channel that he had booked a box to watch the Rio carnival parade, which takes place on the last day of the festival on Wednesday, March 6.

However, his plans to attend the parade may not go down well with PSG coach Thomas Tuchel, who announced a few days ago that they expect Neymar to return to Paris in the coming days.

PSG reportedly want him back to continue with his rehabilitative work in the French capital, where they expect him to be in the stands of Le Parc des Princes for the second leg of PSG’s Champions League last-16 tie against Manchester United on March 6 -- which could put a damper on Neymar’s plans to watch the Rio parade from his luxury box on the same day.

The Brazil striker is set to make his return to Paris next week, but is not expected to return to action until April as he continues his rehabilitation from a similar metatarsal injury to the one that kept him out for three months last year.
