Robert Lewandowski has pulled level with Claudio Pizarro as the Bundesliga's top foreign scorer of all time.

Bayern claw back Dortmund lead

The Polish international took his tally to 195 goals with a brace in Bayern's 5-1 thumping of Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday – a result that moves them level on points with Borussia Dortmund at the Bundesliga summit.

Lewandowski's first was a superb swivel and finish at the start of the second half to put Niko Kovac's side 3-1 up and he then added a fifth in stoppage time from the penalty spot.

The 30-year-old scored 74 league goals for Dortmund after joining them in 2010 from Lech Poznan before making the controversial switch to the Allianz Arena in 2014.

He still has some way to go to catch the Bundesliga's all-time top scorer, Gerd Muller, who plundered an astonishing 365 goals in 427 games.

Bayern's emphatic win included another landmark goal – Serge Gnabry's 75th-minute strike was the club's 4000th in the Bundesliga. Perhaps unsurprisingly given their dominance over the years, they are the first club to reach that milestone.
