Juventus, the major obstacle between Real Madrid and Pogba
Paul Pogba has decided that he wants to leave Manchester United this summer. His agent Mino Raiola is already working to find the French midfielder a new club.
Paul Pogba's recent nod to Real Madrid ("Real Madrid's a dream for anyone and Zidane's there") was a calculated move to suggest he is open to a move to the Spanish capital. Pogba wants to leave Manchester United this summer after three seasons at Old Trafford. He tried to instigate a move during the winter transfer window - primarily because of his fraught relationship with José Mourinho, and was linked with a move to Barcelona. Mourinho's gone but Pogba still feels it's time for him to move on, he believes he has completed what he set out to do at United and is looking for fresh challenges - in either the Spanish league or returning to Italy.
His agent, Mino Raiola, a specialist in hard bargaining, is already working on finding his client a new club. Pogba is under contract until June 2021 and has already turned down an offer to renew terms with United so the situation at Old Trafford this summer, as far as the France international is concerned, looks set to be quite tense. United will need to put in an offer too good to resist to tempt him to sign a new deal. Pogba currently earns 298,000 euros per week, an astronomical 16 million euros per year. But if he doesn't renew, United should be thinking about selling him because if they don't, by the summer of 2020, they will be in a much weaker position to negotiate for him.
Juventus set to push to recover Pogba
If Real Madrid, with the recently-returned Zidane, is Pogba's first option in Spain, in Italy, Juventus would be only too happy to take him back if he decides to leave United. Diario AS understands that Juve's board are already totting up the numbers to find a way of financing the operation. Juve would prove fierce competition for Madrid in the race to get the 26-year-old because the club has a close relationship with Mino Raiola - quite the opposite to Florentino's affinity, or lack of, with the agent. According to Football Leaks, Raiola pocketed a considerable 48 million euro commission fee when Pogba left Juve to join United.
Paul Pogba in numbers
120 million euros. The only fee paid for Pogba - when United decided to bring him back because he was allowed to leave on a free transfer in 2009. United spotted him when he was on the books at Le Havre, and signed him when he was just 16... Two years later, when the player had turned 18, they let him join Juventus on a free.
310 first class games. Pogba has made 310 appearances (178 with Juventus, 132 with Manchester United). Despite still only being 26, he is a highly-experienced player. In his 310 games he has scored 63 goals (34 in Italy, 29 in England).
65 appearances for France. He has played 65 games at full international level with France and scored 10 goals. Last summer, he lifted the World Cup with Les Bleus in Russia after France beat Croatia 4-2 in the final - Pogba scoring the third goal for Deschamps' team.
