Santi Cazorla inconsolable after late penalty miss against Betis

The much-loved Villarreal midfielder Santi Cazorla appeared visably distressed in the aftermath of the game when he missed a late penalty.

It was in the final few minutes of the game between Real Betis and Villarreal in Sevilla when a penalty was awarded to the visiting side. Score the spot kick and they would head home with a valuable point in their battle to avoid relegation.

Cazorla misses last-gasp penalty

Villarreal's returning hero stepped up to slot the penalty home, awarded for handball against Bartra, but it was saved. When the referee's whistle blew, Betis were relieved to have held onto their 2-1 win, and the Yellow Submarine remained in the drop zone.

Clearly gutted by his miss, even attempts by teammates like Calleja could console the former Arsenal man. Expect him to be the difference in his side's next game against Girona.
