This afternoon, Tuesday, we learnt that Inter Milan were looking at the possibility of bringing in coach Antonio Conte, but that the former Juventus and Chelsea manager was in no way willing to take less than his salary at Chelsea (€10M) to take over at the nerazzurro. That said, Italian daily La Gazzetta, has published a possible plan Conte would pursue if he were to take the job at Milan - and the news is that there would be no place for Mauro Icardi, who has fallen out with current coach Luciano Spalletti.

No place for Icardi under Conte

According to La Gazzetta there is no possibility that Conte would attempt to change Mauro Icardi’s situation at the club and indicates that a move to Atlético Madrid could be on the cards, though the Spanish club would need to come up with an offer of around 70 million euros. The only thing that could change Inter’s mind to move the Argentinean on at this point would be if there were a lack of serious offers for the player.

Inter Milan want Rakitic

According to La Gazzetta, Barcelona midfielder Rakitic is one of Inter's main targets - their desire would be for him to line up alongside Brozovic, one of the 'untouchables' in the squad. However the same newspaper published recently that Rakitic has said ‘yes’ to Juventus, and there is also interest from Sevilla, where Monchi dreams of building a new team around their former star. However Barcelona’s stance is clear: whoever wants Rakitic needs to stump up his buy-out clause of 125 million euros, with the player tied to the Camp Nou until 2021.

Godín and Lukaku on the list

Among the other names Conte could be looking at counting on include: Godín, Nainggolan, Lukaku and Dzeko. Atleti's Uruguayan is already pretty much on his way to the club, while the arrival of Conte at Milan could change the situation of Nainggolan at the San Siro: Conte is a big fan of his, having tried to sign him when he was at Chelsea. Manchester United full-back Matteo Darmian is another likely target.

Meanwhile, the potential departure of Icardi would leave a notable gap up front, with Dzeko being one possible replacement, but the Bosnian turned 33 a couple of weeks go, and his age is beginning to show - he scored 16 last season and has only managed seven in this campaign. Inter's aim would therefore be to sign a big name to accompany Lautaro Martínez and the thinking is that Romelu Lukaku could be a target - he's said to be keen to play in Serie A.
