Luis Suárez appears to have rediscovered his goal scoring touch in LaLiga but the net continues to evade him in the Champions League. Before this evening’s Champions League quarter final first leg clash with Manchester United, he had failed to find the back of the net in any of his six appearances in this year’s competition. His last Champions League goal can be dated back to April 2018 when he was on target in the 4-1 win over Roma in last season’s quarter finals. And you have to go even further back for his last away goal in the tournament – that was in September 2015 – again against Roma, in the group stage.

Suárez header awarded to Shaw

The Uruguayan thought his barren patch was finally over when he appeared to have nodded Barça ahead on 11 minutes against Manchester United at Old Trafford tonight in their Champions League quarter-final first leg match only for the goal to be credited to Luke Shaw by Italian match official Gianluca Rocchi.

In total, Suárez has scored 20 goals in the Champions League for Barcelona.
