Golovin explains how bizarre it got at Monaco under Henry

Aleksandr Golovin spoke about Thierry Henry's brief spell in charge at AS Monaco and it does not put the former Arsenal striker in a good light.

Aleksandr Golovin arrived at Monaco after a dazzling World Cup with Russia. The attacking midfielder did not reach the same heights during his first season in France, however, in a season that has seen the Ligue 1 side sack Leonardo Jardim, appoint Thierry Henry and then re-appoint Jardim after Henry's sacking.

Henry never settled into role of manager

"Maybe Henry didn’t kill the role of the player inside of him," Golovin said according to Goal.com.

"When things weren’t working out during practice he would get nervous and yell a lot. Maybe it was unnecessary. He was a very strong player and the only players near his level at Monaco are maybe [Radamel] Falcao and [Cesc] Fabregas.

"He would try to go out onto the field and show us how to practice and yell. He would scream 'try to get the ball away from me'. Players were mostly calm, but maybe they were in a bit of a shock.

"You could tell he didn’t fully transition into the role of manager."
