A late goal gives Zlatan and LA Galaxy the win over Houston
Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored from the penalty spot as LA Galaxy beat Houston Dynamo to stretch their winning streak to five games.
It was the game everyone was waiting for, as Houston Dynamo arrived at LA Galaxy's home as one of the two undefeated teams left in the season. However, the game wasn't an easy one for the Texan squad as Guillermo Barros Schelotto's side had a four-game winning streak that they weren't willing to lose.
The match started as expected, with a back and forth rhythm that kept everyone on the edge of their sits, but soon came the bad news for the home team when Romain Alessandrini fell to the grass and had to be replaced by Emmanuel Boateng.
The dynamic of the game ended up with two conceded penalties, one for each side. The first went to LA Galaxy, with captain Zlatan Ibrahimovic sending it into the back of Houston's net with superb quality to put the home side 1-0 up in the first half.
By the second half, Houston got their chance when a penalty was awarded in their favour. Having been checked by VAR, the decison was upheld and Alberth Elis levelled the match for the Texans.
Both teams tried to keep up the momentum or at least the initiative of the plays, but the strategy to stop each other was working out. However, when the game was almost over, a corner kick to LA Galaxy saw Jonathan dos Santos centre and defender Diego Polenta take the chance to score the winner.
LA Galaxy add another victory to what is now a five-game winning streak, while Houston Dynamo are no longer one of the two teams undefeated in the 2019 MLS season.
