Despite being on loan at Borussia Dortmund until 2020, Achraf Hakimi has admitted he'd jump at the chance to return to Madrid next season.

Real Madrid full-back Achraf Hakimi, who is currently on a two-year loan at Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund, says he'd be up for a summer return to his parent club. "It would be a dream to be back at Madrid as soon as possible," the Moroccan international told an interview with the Spanish television channel #Vamos. "I'd be lying if I said otherwise. We'll see what happens."

Achraf confident Real Madrid will bounce back

Despite watching Madrid endure a poor campaign that has seen his boyhood club fail to win any major silverware, Achraf is optimistic that the future is bright at the LaLiga giants. "I'm a Madrid fan, and even if I'm not there, I'm always going to follow the club," he said. "It's been a difficult season for them, but Madrid have everything it takes to bounce back. That's why they're the greatest club in the world. They're in a slump, but I'm confident they'll come back out of it."

Achraf pleased with Borussia Dortmund experience

Achraf's season is now over after the 20-year-old suffered a broken bone in his foot in a game against Wolfsburg at the end of March, but he remains happy with how his campaign in Germany has turned out. "When Dortmund came in for me," he explained, "I felt like I could replicate what [Dani] Carvajal did [at Bayer Leverkusen]: go out on loan and then come back a more mature player, having had the kind of learning experience that I needed. I think I made the right decision.

"It was a big blow when I got injured," the defender went on. "But I'm feeling a whole lot better about myself now. [To begin with] I was worried about whether I'd be the same player I was before, but bit by bit I've started to get over that fear, and I'm now fighting tooth and nail to get back into the shape I was in before - and ideally get myself into even better nick than that."
