Marco Asensio took to his Instagram account to look back on what the Mallorca born player confirms was a season, 'full of difficulties' but is already looking forward to the 2019-20 campaign with Real Madrid.

Expectations were high at the beginning of the campaign with the arrival of Julen Lopetegui with the club aiming to retain their Champions League crown and challenge FC Barcelona in LaLiga. Things failed to gel with the Basque coach and a similar disappointing situation under his replacement Santi Solari saw the return of Zinedine Zidane in March following a Champions League exit to Ajax with Barcelona strolling to another LaLiga title.

Asensio acknowledged the problems experienced by the club in his post, stating: "A complicated season, full of difficulties has finished. It was far from the level which the marvelous fans deserve.

But we will pick ourselves up, we will get better and we will give our all so that next season madridistas will again enjoy our team, to return your unconditional support and love. We promise to fight with renewed energy for every cup until the end.

Madrid always makes a comeback. Hala Madrid!"
