Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool the ideal start to the Champions League final against Tottenham, but it was not the game's quickest ever goal.

Liverpool's quickfire opener in their Champions League final win over Tottenham was scored from the earliest penalty awarded in a European Cup trophy decider, but it was by no means the fixture's fastest ever goal.

Salah scores on 108 seconds after 23-second penalty award

Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool the perfect start in Madrid when he converted from the spot with 108 seconds on the clock, after Moussa Sissoko was adjudged to have handled in the Tottenham box just 23 seconds into the game.

Liverpool goal slower than 2005, 1959 final strikes

It is the second quickest final goal in the Champions League era, having hit the back of the net just under a minute later than Paolo Maldini's 52-second effort for AC Milan against Liverpool in the 2005 showpiece event in Istanbul.

And the Egyptian's strike is only the third fastest final goal in the entire history of the European Cup, as Real Madrid's Enrique Mateos was on target in the first minute of Los Blancos' 1959 triumph over Reims in Stuttgart.

Reds crowned European champions for sixth time

Jürgen Klopp's men claimed a sixth European title after running out 2-0 winners in Saturday evening's all-Premier League clash, with Salah's spot-kick followed by a late strike by substitute Divock Origi.
