The Lyon and France left-back is closing in on a summer move to Real Madrid, with the 23-year-old expected to have his medical this week.
Real Madrid are close to sealing a deal for Ferland Mendy, with the LaLiga club hopeful of being able to confirm the signing of the Lyon left-back this week.
Mendy expected to have Madrid medical in coming days
Having already said yes to a Madrid move in talks with head coach Zinedine Zidane, the France international - who featured for Les Bleus in Sunday's 2-0 friendly win over Bolivia - is expected to undergo a medical with Los Blancos in the coming days, according to reports in the French media.
Zidane, Bettoni keen on Mendy as Marcelo competition
Both Zidane and his assistant coach, David Bettoni, have been adamant that Madrid should sign Mendy to compete with current first-choice Marcelo. The club's other first-team left-back, Sergio Reguilón, is set to leave on loan this summer.
Mendy, who turns 24 on Saturday, has made 79 appearances for Lyon since joining the Ligue 1 club from Le Havre in 2017 and, having made his France debut last November, has won two caps for the world champions.
