James: Napoli working on deal, Serie A club's chief indicates
Speaking to Sportmediaset, Aurelio de Laurentiis has strongly indicated that the Serie A side are working to sign the Real Madrid player.
Napoli are determined to sign James Rodríguez from Real Madrid.
A buy that would generate major excitement among the Serie A club's fanbase and would significantly boost their attacking options, the Colombian has become the Partenopei's dream summer target and, as was revealed by AS earlier this month, he has told coach Carlo Ancelotti that he wants to join him in Italy.
"I'm not going to sign Icardi, but we'll see about Lozano and James"
And speaking to Sportmediaset today, Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis appeared to confirm that the Italians are working on a deal to take the 27-year-old midfielder to the Stadio San Paolo, declaring: "I'm not going to sign [Mauro] Icardi, but we'll see about [Hirving] Lozano and James."
Agreeing personal terms with James' agent, Jorge Mendes, isn't expected to be a problem for the Naples outfit, who are also confident of negotiating an affordable transfer fee with Madrid chief Florentino Pérez - or, at the very least, a workable, instalment-based payment plan.
Left Bayern this summer after two years on loan in Germany
James, who joined Madrid from Monaco in an 80m-euro switch in 2014, spent the last two seasons on loan at Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
