USA with an almost perfect record against Jamaica
Before the Gold Cup semifinal match between United States and the Reggae Boyz, the US side part as favorites as they have won almost every time they faced each other.
Jamaica and the United States face each other again in the 2019 Gold Cup edition at semifinals, with both teams seeking the desired final match ticket, both are old acquaintances, with the USMNT having an almost perfect road against the Reggae Boyz, as the Americans only add one loss versus Jamaica in the tournament history.
In the five games in which the USMNT and Jamaica have seen each other at the Gold Cup, the Stars and Stripes have fallen only once while facing Jamaica, which was ironically in the semifinal round of the 2015 edition.
The first time they met in the Gold Cup, was in 1993 at group stage with the US side beating Jamaica by the minimum thanks to a goal scored by Eric Wynalda in Cotton Bowl at Dallas.
Twelve years later, both teams meet again at the Gold Cup, now in the 2005 edition, facing each other in the quarterfinal round, where the USMNT claimed a 3-1 victory. In 2011 they also met in quarterfinals this time the Americans defeated the Reggae Boyz 2-0 with goals from Jermaine Taylor and Clint Dempsey.
Jamaica's only victory against the United States dates back to 2015 when they clashed in the semifinal round, with the Reggae Boyz taking the 2-1 win, stealing the Grand Final ticket from USA.
The last time they met, was in the past edition at the Gold Cup Final, in which the US men's national team won its sixth tournament title, after beating 2-1 Jamaica with goals from Jozy Altidore and Jordan Morris.
