Spain's capital city of Madrid is one of the most visited in the world and boasts exquisite museums, stunning parks, wonderful cuisine, and a vibrant nightlife among many of its attractions. El Prado and Reina Sofia museums are annually capturing most tourists' attention, but the famous home of Real Madrid, the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, tends to occupy third spot for getting people through its doors.

Real Madrid's famous turf open

The tour of the stadium gives fans of Los Blancos, or interested others, a chance to see where some of the world's greatest players have shown off their skills, the changing rooms used by the current crop, the museum that tells the history of the most successful club ever, and, of course, the trophy room.

There is, however, one specific difference to the tour for those that are in the city in July. Normally the guide takes the group to the side of the pitch, continuing their facts and anecdotes about the club. But for those attending on the 9th, 11th, 13th and 15th of the month, they will be allowed to step across the hallowed turf, something not normally permitted.

Real Madrid's LaLiga season kicks off away to Celta Vigo on 18 August, with the first home game likely not to be until well into September with works having begun on stadium development.
