Alex Morgan and the USWNT winners at ESPYS awards
The US women's national team and Alex Morgan won Best Team and Female Athlete of the year over teams like the New England Patriots or Gymnast Simone Biles.
Awards keep coming way of the US women's national team, and this time Jill Ellis' squad picked up the best team ESPYS honor after its fourth World Cup victory.
The USWNT took the award over teams like the New England Patriots, who achieved its sixth Super Bowl back in February or the Boston Red Sox who won the World Series, or Toronto Raptors winning its first NBA championship, with Clemson Tigers Football, Baylor Lady Bears Basketball and Virginia Cavaliers men's basketball also nominated.
The US women's team have broken a heap of records since the start of the France World Cup, proving themselves to be the best American team, something these women have in fact been showing for a long time now.
Actress Sandra Bullock was in charge of announcing the Best Team winner, and she did it by saying, "All those in favor of equal pay say aye!" in reference to the US side's battle for equal pay, which has seen them at the centre of a media storm.
Megan Rapinoe with Carli Cloyd gave the acceptance speech joined by their teammates on the stage, on a night where co-captain Alex Morgan was recognized too.
Alex Morgan
Orlando Pride and USWNT striker Alex Morgan was nominated as Female Athlete of the year alongside Gymnast Simone Biles, Alpine skier Mikaela Shiffrin and Basketball player, Breanna Stewart.
Morgan had a fine performance during the France World Cup, winning the silver boot and setting a scoring record and putting her name in the WWC history book, which granted her the ESPYS Female Athlete of the year.
